The City Council have advised us that, following Storm Éowyn, contractors will be on the Kelvin Walkway from Monday 3 March 2025 to remove 23 trees.

The City Council have informed us that, following recent storm damage to trees, part of “our” bit of the Kelvin Walkway will be closed temporarily for safety reasons.

Glasgow City Council has been dealing with the aftermath of Storm Eowyn across the City with over 1,000 trees now reported and requiring action. Our NRS Arboricultural teams are working tirelessly to remove trees causing obstruction with the priority being trees where there is an immediate risk to public safety or further property damage. Due to the number of fallen and damaged trees along the Kelvin Walkway, a temporary closure is now in place between Kelvin Walkway at Kelvinbridge along to Kelvin Walkway at Queen Margaret Bridge. Access will also be closed at Queen Margaret Road and Garriochmill Road/Belmont Street.

This is a temporary closure to maintain public health and safety and we will look to clear the trees from the Walkway as soon practicable. We thank you for your patience with this matter.
