Meeting point

Meet on Queen Margaret Bridge at the junction with Queen Margaret Road at 2pm, opposite our notice board.

About the walk

The Partick/Govan Bridge is opened formally on 6 September. On 7 September there is a music festival in the Water Row area of Govan Cross to mark the Bridge opening. The section of Govan Road in the area will be closed to traffic. Some participants might want to spend some time at the Festival and have the option of returning to the West End by subway from Govan Cross to Hillhead or Kelvinbridge at a time of their choosing.

Route detail

The route to Govan is via Queen Margaret Drive, Byres Road and Church St, where we go through the new section of University campus and into Kelvingrove Park and join Argyle St opposite the Kelvin Hall.

We cross and go via Bunhouse Road, Old Dumbarton Road and Ferry Road, where we go under the railway, under the Expressway and join the path to the Riverside Museum and on to the new bridge.

For those who opt to walk back, the route will be: Retrace our steps to Ferry Road, then left into Benalder St and continue along Cooper's Well St to Partick Cross, then straight up Byres Road and QMD.

Registration

There is no need to book – you can just come along on the day.

Remember…

★ Please wear comfortable shoes

★ Walkers needing 1:1 support should bring a buddy with them to help

★ Children must be accompanied by an adult
